Valve confirms it's exploring possibilities of Steam on mobile platforms - iPhone and Android?

It looks as if last month’s rumour of Valve’s interest in creating a mobile version of Steam wasn’t quite so far fetched as it initially sounded, as the company has now said officially that it has begun looking at bringing the gaming service over to mobile.

Speaking to MCV, VP of marketing Doug Lombardi told the magazine that “it is something we're starting to look at now.”

“People are starting to ask us for it. The more requests we receive, the more we feel the need to act on them.”

Highlighting the growing importance of mobile gaming as a whole, Jason Holtman, director of business development and legal affairs at Valve, added: "If you're making games, you have to be thinking about having a platform in this space [mobile gaming].”

Details of exactly what mobile platforms Valve are exploring have not been revealed at this point in time, but we’d be surprised if it didn’t include one or more of the big gaming formats like iOS and Android.
