Need for Speed: The Run coming to Nintendo 3DS in November

Since Ridge Racer 3D and Asphalt 3D showed us what racing games can do on the Nintendo 3DS, we're looking forward to seeing how the genre evolves.

EA has announced that it will bring its Need for Speed series to 3DS later this year. Need for Speed: The Run will be released on November 15th in the U.S. and November 17th in Europe.

The game is set to weave through a variety of well-known locations as you pelt past the Empire State Building and across the Golden Gate Bridge. You'll be weaving through heavy traffic one minute and powering around icy paths the next.

If you're wondering about the 'Run' part of the name, apparently it's all to do with escaping the police - we're even promised a storyline, which is rather unusual for a racer.

The game will use the Frostbite 2 game engine to provide gorgeous visuals and state-of-the-art car physics.
