iPad version going universal

Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP Micro coming to iPhone on Thursday, £1.79

Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP, the mercurial pixel-art adventure from Superbrothers, Capybara, and musician Jim Guthrie, was the most interesting iPad game of last month, and now it's likely to be the most interesting iPhone game of this month.

The iPhone version will cost £1.79/$2.99. The iPad version, meanwhile, will become a universal app, meaning if you already own it you don't need to buy it again for your iPhone or iPod touch. That version will remain at £2.99/$4.99.

2D Boy did the same thing with the iPhone version of World of Goo earlier this month.

If you're buying it for the first time for your iPhone, for god's sake buy the Micro version, which is exactly the same but £1.20 cheaper. Unless, that is, you're planning to get an iPad at some point and think you might want to play it on that, in which case you can buy it for now on iPhone safe in the knowledge that you'll have a fully optimised iPad version when you take delivery of your new hardware. Options.

Pocket Gamer gave Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP a Silver Award at review, thanks largely to its “magical quality”.
