Social farming games in the mould of FarmVille have sowed their seeds deep in the fertile soil of the App Store.

Now, with spring here, it seems the little blighters are cropping up everywhere.

After appearing on iOS more than a year ago, then disappearing, then reappearing on Android, Papaya's Payaya Farm has returned to the App Store as a cross-platform title.

The game offers up exactly the sort of thing you'd expect from such a title - sowing crops, watering them, watching them grow, then having them stolen by your friends - without much embellishment.

Still, Papaya has a strong presence in social gaming, so there's the added bonus of being able to use your Papaya Mobile avatar to chat with friends across their network.

If that sounds like fun to you, Papaya Farm's out for free on the App Store now.
