Introducing Pocket Gamer's new comments system

Goodbye spam, hello teething troubles (followed by stability and blissful spamlessness)

Introducing Pocket Gamer's new comments system
|

You may have noticed over the last few weeks that Pocket Gamer has become a victim of the git-produced internet flotsam known as spam.

For those of you in the market for fake Ugg boots, fake Nike shoes, fake medication, and other fake products it's been a boon. For the rest of you it's been a nuisance.

We've taken steps to put an end to spam on Pocket Gamer by changing the way the comments system works. We won't bore you with the technical details, not least because that would mean asking our tech guy to explain them to us first, but the upshot is that from now on it'll be necessary to register before posting a comment.

If you've wrestled with our registration process before and don't much like the idea of doing it again, don't worry - it's much simpler now. When you try to make a comment you'll be invited to register, whereupon you need to enter a username, email address, and password. A confirmation email will then arrive in your inbox with a link you need to click to activate your account.

Simple.

If you're already a registered user you should be able to log in as before. You should be able to, but you might not. Whenever the bonnet is lifted, the gremlins find a way into the machine.

If you are unable to log in, the first thing to do is click 'Reset Pass', enter the email address you registered with, and then follow the instructions in the email that follows.

If you've done all that and you still can't log in, try deleting your cookies.

If that doesn't work, email [email protected] and we'll fix the glitch as soon as we can.

Our sincere apologies for the inconvenience.

Best,
The Pocket Gamer team
