GDC 2011: Amiga classic Another World coming to iPhone and iPad

Back in 1991, Another World was revolutionary.

It had cinematic cut-scenes, daring set-pieces, sinister graphics, and it was incredibly difficult to beat. Being able to tell your friends that you'd completed Another World was like wearing a medal of honour.

Original creator Eric Chahi announced today at GDC that his classic game will be coming to iPhone and iPad later this year.

He is working on the port with French video game studio DotEmu, which brought us R-Type last year. It'll be published by Bulkypix.

Chahi said in a statement: "I'm very pleased to work with my developer friends from DotEmu and their partner BulkyPix.

"The first prototype looks beautiful on iPad, they are doing a great job on it."

There's no word yet on whether the revamped version will receive a graphical overhaul.
