UK online retailer Play has published a March 31st release date for Samsung’s Gingerbread-powered Galaxy S II smartphone, though it's likely to be an educated guess.

The site has also pegged the 16GB version of the phone at £599.99. The 32GB version of the device is absent Play's pages.

This price tag (roughly converted as $970 for American consumers), is a little higher than UK online retailer Clove predicted a few days ago, but the sites broadly agree. The phone itself is powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, with a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus display, 1GB of RAM, 1GHz processor and 8-megapixel front facing and a 2-megapixel rear-facing cameras.
