Sony has announced that it will cut the price of its PSP handheld to $129.99 in North America on February 27th.

Concerning the prospect of a European price cut, a Sony Europe representative told VG247, “We have nothing to say at this time regarding the price of PSP within the SCEE region. PSP has been performing particularly well in Europe so far this year and we look forward to sharing some exciting plans that we have for PSP throughout the year.”

February 27th will also see the addition of 13 games to the PSP's 'Greatest Hits' and 'Favourites' collections, which retail for $19.99 and $9.99 respectively.

It's fair to assume that this move relates to Sony's forthcoming NGP, which is due for release later this year.
