Oh dear - it was going so well for Microsoft.

First it launched a mobile OS that was genuinely well-received by critics. Then it revealed that customers liked it too, with 93 per cent of Windows Phone 7 owners saying they’d recommend it to a friend.

However, it seems that the first ever update to WP7, one that ironically improves how the phone updates, is causing widespread bricking of the Samsung Omnia 7.

The Windows Phone 7 Support Twitter feed confirms reports by WPCentral and Winrumours that the issue exists.

In reply to a user complaining that his Samsung phone had ‘hung on 100%’, the support team told him, ‘Yes, we have had other[s with the] same issue with the Omnia 7. We are looking into this issue’.
