Since the first announcement of Gingerbread back in early December, and the subsequent release of the Nexus S, Nexus One owners have been feeling left out.

However, according to MobileCrunch Google's Gingerbread OS will be available to Nexus One owners within "the next few days".

MobileCrunch was apparently told about Gingerbread's impending arrival at the MWC event in Barcelona, although no real clarification was given by the tipster.

Upon digging deeper, a number of independent sources are said to have confirmed that the Android Team is aiming to roll out Gingerbread via over-the-air update by the middle of next week.

Select additions include a new keyboard, a new text selection tool, a streamlined user interface, support for NFC technology, and a host of other improvements.
