Launched in 1996 to massive success, 3D platformer Crash Bandicoot has been revealed as the "classic PlayStation" title that will be pre-loaded in Sony Ericsson's Xperia Play.

One of the best selling games of all time, it highlights the cross-over potential between the Android-based smartphone-come-portable console and the might of Sony's gaming brand.

Indeed, Sony Ericsson says lots of PlayStation classics will be made exclusively available for the device, initially via the Android Market, but eventually via the PlayStation Store.

Best of both worlds

Of course, Xperia Play will also run standard Android titles, while publishers and developers have tweaked some of their existing Android titles to support the game.

Such games already announced for Xperia Play includeFIFA, Guitar Hero, Dead Space, Assassins Creed, Reckless Racing, Galaxy on Fire and Battlefield Bad Company.
