One of the most popular multiplayer games of all time is heading over to take another bite from the Java cherry, courtesy of EA Mobile.

Worms Armageddon for Java is based on the 2009 Xbox Live Arcade release of the classic invertebrate action-strategy game, packing in all the game’s iconic weapons (such as fan favourite, the Concrete Donkey), humour in the form of dialogue pop-ups, and a whole host of improvements over last year’s Worms 2010.

Chief among these is a wider range of unlockable customisation options - ranging from hats and gravestones to worm dances and game modes.

Along with the expected Custom Game - complete with randomised maps based on a theme and landscape, and pass-the-handset multiplayer for up to three people - Worms Armageddon also comes with a Campaign mode, set against four different worm ‘tribes’ (as it were).

Each tribe has a different favoured form of attack, so don’t expect each round to be a mindless volley of wind-affected bazooka rounds, and brace yourself for the embarrassing prod-into-a-landmine death if you get too close.

Worms Armageddon will be blasting its way onto mobile games portals worldwide on Monday, 28th of February.
