Puzzle Quest 2, the gem in Namco Bandai's 2010 holiday line-up, looks to continue shining in the spotlight with the promise of online multiplayer.

Namco Bandai Games has announced that it plans on releasing an update to the universal app that introduces online multiplayer via Game Center.

Two modes are planned: Hero Versus and standard Versus. The former allows you to select a hero from one of your saved single player games and compete with another person's customised avatar online.

Versus mode, on the other hand, simply drops you into a competitive match with a pre-selected hero balanced against your opponent's hero.

Retina display support for iPhone 4 and fourth-generation iPod touch devices is also coming in the update, as well as expanded language support. With the release of the update, the price will go up, buy it now if you have your eye on it.

Puzzle Quest 2 is currently available for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad as a universal download at a price of £2.99 / $4.99.
