Rumour: First official image of the PSP2
|

Kotaku Japan has got its hands on a picture which is allegedly an official product shot of the PSP2.

The device looks remarkably similar to the forthcoming Xperia PlayStation Phone, with the screen on a black top, which slides down over a silver control panel. Unlike the rumoured phone, this rumoured console has two analogue nubs, a few extra buttons and LEDs, and a stylus.

It could also be a massive, seismic, gargantuan fake, whipped up in Photoshop by a digital hoaxter.

There are plenty of telltale signs: being a scanned-in, printed-out handout covers up seams that would be visible in high resolution, the stylus is almost as long as the entire device, huge parts of the image seem taken directly from the original PSP and it looks nothing like the leaked photos from last year.

But we’ll let you make up your own mind.

The system, which hasn’t even been confirmed by Sony, will reportedly make its debut at Sony’s January 27th press conference in Tokyo. But even that information comes with a boulder of salt.
