EA’s gory sci-fi spook fest, Dead Space, has hit the iPhone and iPad App Store in New Zealand. Thanks to the unique curvature of the Earth, and its rotational relationship with the Sun, the game will be available from international App Stores from midnight.

The game’s story takes place between the events of console releases Dead Space, and the just out Dead Space 2. The Marker has long been destroyed, but the Necromorph hordes will once again be unleashed, as you’ll witness first hand, deep within the mines of Titan.

Cutting edges

Dead Space features six locations, and plenty of mutated Necromorph enemies to fight against with simple swipe and tap gestures. You’ll get an arsenal of weapons, including two guns exclusive to the iOS edition - a plasma saw and the core extractor. You also have kinesis and stasis powers, to manipulate enemies and objects to your will.

The game is available now on iPhone and iPad, as two separate apps.

The iPhone edition is $10 NZ, which will convert to £3.99 / $6.99 / €5.49, and the tablet-screened iPad version is $13 NZ, meaning it will cost £5.99 / $9.99 / €7.99 when it launches in UK, US and European stores.
