Despite continuing its support for the PSP in 2011 with four new titles, Square Enix just can’t wait to get its hands on the PSP 2.

Takamasa Shiba, the producer of Lord of Arcana, revealed in an interview with VG247 that he's excited by the prospect of developing games for the more powerful handheld.

"There are a lot of things I’m excited for the PSP2, but I’m more interested in hardware specifics rather than a unique feature,” said Shiba. “Hardware is always coming out, so the software needs to be pushing the hardware as well. So, if they put something in that’s very unique then it is hard to create games for it. As a creator, I’m looking forward to mainly hardware improvements.”

Shiba’s comments, though not exactly proof, contribute to the drip-drip of evidence accumulating around the fabled PSP 2.

It appears to be only a matter of time before the system is confirmed. In fact, if another VG247 report published today is to be believed it's a matter of exactly 15 days' worth of time, with the PSP 2 due to be unveiled in Tokyo in January 27th.
