As it promised a few weeks ago, Sony has released its official PlayStation app for iOS and Android devices.

Current functionality grants the ability to peruse your PSN trophies, check-out what your friends have been playing, or simply keep tabs on their online status.

You can also keep up-to-date with the latest games and news from Sony, as well as read all announcements from PlayStation.Blog.

PlayStation Official App is only available for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad owners running at least iOS 4. Android users require OS 1.6 or higher.

As expected, Sony's official app is currently accessible to gamers in UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, and the Netherlands. Alongside additional functionality, support for the majority of SCEE countries is planned for future updates.

PlayStation Offical App is available as a free download from Apple's App Store and Android's Marketplace right now.
