Rovio's dream of turning the Angry Birds craze into a fully fledged franchise has taken another step in that direction with an upcoming Angry Birds boardgame, shown below in the offices of Electric Pig.

Pocket Gamer's own Mark 'Nostradamus' Brown successfully prophesied the move last year.

Entitled Angry Birds Knock on Wood, the fowl-flinging boardgame is set to include enough destruction for up to four players.

The rules of the game are quite simple, with players taking it in turns to either build defences or destroy them. Mission cards are on hand to outline block arrangements, which must be constructed in the hope of protecting your perilous piggies.

Points are awarded based on the number of blocks knocked over, with only your catapult and a selection of familiar feathered friends to aid you. 1,000 points is the goal, with the first player to reach it crowned the winner.

Angry Birds Knock on Wood is perched and ready for release sometime in May, with a price tag of $14.99 - roughly £10.
