Australian developer/publisher Firemint – maker of commercial and critical hits Flight Control and Real Racing 2has confirmed it has bought fellow fellow Australian studio Infinite Interactive, maker of the Puzzle Quest series, for an undisclosed amount.

The deal means that Infinite Interactive will now cease to exist as a separate company, with Firemint confirming that the founder of the 22-year old firm, Steve Fawkner, will now be part of the product management team at Firemint, and ‘will continue to work with his current team on a game already under development’.

Firemint founder Rob Murray said in a statement that the two Melbourne companies already had close ties, stating that "Steve and I have been talking about working together for a long time."

"I remember him showing me an early version of Puzzle Quest. This inspired me to make a game during my own holidays two years later, which was Flight Control."

Founded in 1999, Firemint has seen considerably success on the App Store, with Real Racing and Flight Control reaching the top spot in sales charts across the world.
