59p Battlefield: Bad Company 2 iPhone blasts onto New Zealand App Store

EA’s shouty, noisy, explodey first-person shooter Battlefield: Bad Company 2 has hit the iPhone App Store.

Thanks to wacky Kiwi time zones, New Zealand players get the game right now, while the rest of us will have to wait until midnight.

The shooter features a full 14 level single-player campaign across five different battlezones, as you capture emplacements in jungle heat, arctic snow, and desert dust. When you’re not taking out insurgents with a ruddy big gun, you’ll be in tanks and helicopters.

The game has a full arsenal of 14 weapons, including a close quarters knife, plenty of assault rifles, and RPGs. And they’re controlled via three different control systems, letting you play entirely through touch controls, entirely through gesture-based motions, or a combination of the two.

When you’re done with the single-player campaign, you can take the fight online with four-player battles. Whether you’re on wi-fi, Bluetooth or 3G, you can take part in two-on-two squad deathmatches or deadly free for alls. Push notifications let your buddies know you want to take them on in the arena.

The game will hit international App Stores from midnight tonight, where it will cost the absurdly cheap price of 59p / 99c / €0.79c. Which is either a big pricing mistake, or Christmas come early.
