Pirate Michael Jackson: The Experience on DS and get vuvuzela’d

Go ahead. Pirate Michael Jackson: The Experience on DS. We dare you. We double dog dare you.

Because naughty, morally-flexible badboys who download the new Jacko game will find the King of Pop’s songs drowned out by the star of this year’s World Cup: the South African vuvuzela horn. Ubisoft’s new anti-piracy weapon also deletes some vitally important buttons to make the game unplayable.

It’s a much better anti-piracy method than Ubisoft’s been trialling on the PC, where games like Assassin’s Creed II require constant broadband internet to phone home to Ubi, and make sure the game is legit.

Vindictively wrecking a pirated version of a game is an anti-piracy strategy employed a few times before. MCV mentions Sensible Software’s Mega-Lo-Mania on the Amiga, which would shout "PIRATE!" at you before crashing the game. Eidos, meanwhile, clipped the bat’s wings in Batman: Arkham Asylum, giving pirates the complete game but turning off the Dark Knight’s glide ability.

What do you think? Are vuvuzelas an effective anti-piracy method, or an improvement to Jacko’s tunes?
