[Update: As commenter chris pointed out earlier, Puzzle Quest 2 is currently only available in the US. Namco informs Pocket Gamer that the game will be available worldwide on December 9th.]

Line up your gems and strap on your sword: the sequel to epic match-three puzzler Puzzle Quest has landed on iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad.

Puzzle Quest 2 is what happens when PopCap’s Bejeweled and an RPG get into a fight, as you line up puzzle pieces to deck fantasy beasties. Matching coloured gems gives you mana for spells, lining up three or more sacks of loot will give you gold, and going all Connect 4 on a row of skulls unleashes an attack.

The game has an expansive Adventure mode, as you level up, gain experience, and learn new spells in a quest to reclaim the once peaceful village of Verloren from the evil clutches of the demon Gorgon. A usual day in the land of Puzzle Quest.

There are also mini-games to earn treasure and experience, and a rich sword and sorcery world to explore. Puzzle Quest 2 out now as a universal app for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad, for £5.99 / $9.99 / €7.99.
