Apple's release of its own Game Center social gaming network was the best thing ever to happen for gaming on Android.

It pushed all the competitors over to Google's platform and they have been encouraging developers to release more and more games for the platform.

In particular, OpenFeint has been acting a publisher of sort; over 100 OpenFeint-enabled games are now available on Android. To-date, they have been downloaded over eight million times.

And a new batch are inbound too.

They are: Jet Car Stunts from True Axis, Must.Eat.Birds from Mediatonic, Frogger from Konami, Bomberman Dojo from Hudson, Solipskier from Mikengreg, aTilt 3D Labyrinth from FridgeCat Software, Word Mix from Greenrift Software, and Kilgamore Castle from Hyperbees.

"We love the reception OpenFeint is getting from the Android community," said Eros Resmini, veep of marketing and developer relations at OpenFeint.

"And we're just getting started; we have over 300 games in development for Android."
