It was originally rumoured for Friday 12th November, but after a brief delay Apple's iOS 4.2 update has finally gone live.

The much anticipated update brings the features of iOS 4 to iPad, meaning that iPad owners can now use folders, multi-task, and take advantage of Apple's Game Center social gaming platform.

In the words of Steve Jobs, "iOS 4.2 makes the iPad a completely new product, just in time for the holiday season.”

Among the other updates is the AirPrint feature, which many speculated would be missing from iOS 4.2. AirPrint allows iDevice owners to remote print using AirPrint-enabled printers. AirPlay, meanwhile, lets users stream music, videos, and photos wirelessly.

Another feature worth getting excited about is Find My iPhone, which allows users to, yes, find their iPhones by locating them on a map or having them beep or flash. The Find My iPhone app is free to download, having previously only been available as part of a $99-a-year MobileMe service.

IOS 4.2 will go live at 10am PT / 6pm GMT.
