Fruit Ninja developer Halfbrick has revealed the game’s next mode, which will be the recipient of the much loved time-waster’s fabled banana moniker.

Arcade Mode is a 60 second, frenzied time attack setting, where a constant barrage of juicy foods are lobbed across the screen.

There are no penalties for dropping fruits, but there are plenty of game-ending bombs and crazy banana power-ups.

There's a double points banana, a frenzy banana - which will fill the screen with fruit - and a freeze banana.

These fruits are also stackable, so you can pull off a simultaneous freeze, frenzy and double points bonus, should you so desire.

Top banana?

Adding to the excitement, you'll be rated for your performance with one of three unique awards, while there's also a special weekly leaderboard system just for Arcade mode so you can see just how good you really are.

The update will be free, and coming to Fruit Ninja and Fruit Ninja HD soon in an update.

If you don’t have the game yet, do yourself a favour and pop onto iTunes. It’s only 59p / 99c / €0.79c.

You can see how it plays in the following video.
