Samsung rumoured to be announcing Nexus Two on November 8th

The internet rumour mill has been working overtime since Samsung sent out invitations to a press event to be held in the US on November 8th.

Now some sources appear to be convinced that the event will see an announcement of the Nexus Two. Yes, the follow-up to the Nexus One – the officially sanctioned “Google Experience” device – will be made by Samsung rather than HTC.

Those with reasonably long memories might recall that Motorola was in line to produce the device at the beginning of the year, but those plans were shelved.

This latest rumour makes a lot of sense. It’s widely held that Samsung makes the best Android hardware, but its customised Touchwiz user interface is – well – a load of wiz. It appears to make even the mighty Galaxy S stutter, and is one of the reasons FroYo is so late arriving on the device.

Combining the Korean company’s hardware nous with Google’s unmolested OS (said to be the upcoming Gingerbread version) sounds like a match made in heaven.

It's said to be available in time for Christmas, with Carphone Warehouse getting exclusive rights to the device in the UK.
