Both the iPhone and iPad versions of Popcap’s seminal tower defence game Plants vs Zombies have received price reductions today, presumably for Halloween.

PvZ pits botanic denizens and their fungi allies against a horde of brain-thirsty zombies, hell-bent on spoiling the front lawn with their moaning and decrepit limbs.

Using the power of strategic thought, the player’s job is to plant the right kinds of flowers to provide a solid defence against the horde.

This defence naturally includes exploding walnuts, while the attackers have high-jumping living-dead decked out in '80s-looking athletic kits.

Both versions of the game earned a Pocket Gamer Gold Award back on release earlier in the year, so it goes without saying that they come highly recommended.

Plants vs Zombies for iPhone now costs 59p / 99c / €0.79, while the iPad version is half-price at £2.99 / $4.99 / €3.99.
