NBA Elite 11 iPhone dribbles onto the New Zealand App Store
Shot clock counting down to midnight
Originally scheduled to bounce onto court on October 5th 2010, NBA Elite 11 was controversially delayed by Electronic Arts on consoles until 2011. Thankfully, the iPhone hasn't been affected.
The iOS version of EA’s successor to the NBA Live series didn’t quite make the October 5th tip-off time, but it's just gone live in New Zealand.
NBA Elite 11 features play-by-play jibber jabber from ESPN’s crack commentary team, Retina display support for iPhone 4, an all-new three-point shootout mode, and up-to-date rosters for all 30 NBA teams.
And if you prove to be the biggest, sickest ‘baller in the league, you may even unlock some Scottie Pippen and David Robinson-shaped legends in return for your mad skillz.
NBA Live scored a creditable Bronze Award from our own US sports expert – well, US expert – Tracy Erickson, who called out the lack of multiplayer and a shallow single-player mode as technical fouls.
One other improvement our own T-Dawg requested was greater defensive control, which EA has apparently delivered, though there’s still no sign of multiplayer.
In spite of that omission, here’s hoping NBA Elite 11 can sink nothing but iOS net when it slam dunks into the US and UK App Stores.
NBA Elite 11 for iPhone should retail for £2.99 / $4.99 / €3.99.
There's no word on an iPad version, in case you were wondering.
