DotEmu, whose most recent title was the generally well-received R-Type, is back on the retro trail once again, this time bringing classic Amiga adventure Gobliiins to the iPhone and iPad.

Gobliiins puts the player in charge of three, yes, goblins – BoBo, Hooter, and Dwayne – as they bumble around using their unique abilities to overcome a series of mind-bendingly strange puzzles.

The original is fondly remembered for its off-the-wall sense of humour and excruciatingly difficult puzzles, which relied almost as much on timing as on having the right objects in hand.

Even those who breezed through its more traditional contemporaries like Monkey Island 2 will have their work cut out to complete all 22 screens without resorting to a walkthrough.

Gobliiins has already been submitted to Apple for approval, so keep your eyes peeled on the App Store over the next few weeks.
