Amazon is really hiking up the marketing for its third generation of Kindle readers, and game publishers are looking to make full use of the opportunity.

EA Mobile has released a simple version of Scrabble - full title SCRABBLE (Play the Popular Word Game on Kindle) - via the US Amazon store.

Priced at $4.99, the game will work on all Kindle devices - indeed you can distribute one game purchase across six Kindles attached to your Amazon account.

It joins Every Word and Shuffled Row, which were the first two free games released for the e-reader.

Wordy wonder

Of course, the gameplay hardly compares against the iPad version.

Scrabble for Kindle is black and white, and features play against the CPU, a head-to-head Pass N Play mode or solo play. There's a Best Word help feature to provide the highest scoring word available, and the game tracks your performance with statistics too.

However, as with Every Word and Shuffled Row, Scrabble doesn't yet appear to be available outside of the US.
