Sega announces Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity for PSP

While the rest of the world waits for Phantasy Star Portable 2 to finally hit UK shores, Sega has unveiled its successor today in Japan.

The story now has a new episode revolving around Nagisa, a new 18-year-old character with an eye patch and tremendous strength.

Apparently she's a "Duman", which is a fancy way of saying that shes a human with changed DNA, the characteristics of which are pure white skin and an eye patch. Dumans have access to a new attack callen an 'Infinity Blast', which deals massive damage to the surrounding area.

Older races needn't feel left out, though, as Sega is promising new costumes for all the races in Infinity.
As well as from the new story, there's going to be a new difficulty level called "Infinity Rank", and a feature called 'Rebirth', which allows you to reset your character's level to 1, whilst still keeping all you stats and abilities.

This system will become accessible once you reach level 50, and Sakai is promising that leveling up won't take quite as long this time.

For fans of the original Phantasy Star Online, there are some new features extremely reminiscent of the classic Online RPG.

Sega is implementing a visual lobby, where you can move your character around a virtual world, searching for players to partner with, whilst chatting in the brand new chat interface.

Lastly, Sega is hinting at a massive connection between the new story in Infinity, and PSO itself.

The game is due out this winter in Japan, and the public will get a chance to try it out at this year's Tokyo Game Show.
