New Android update believed to be Honeycomb
|

In keeping with its penchant for naming its updates after sweet treats, it's emerged that Google's next-but-one Android update is to be called Honeycomb.

It's only likely to be a minor update, which is probably for the best, seeing as honeycomb isn’t even a proper dessert.

The newly revealed update is expected to be to the forthcoming Gingerbread what FroYo (2.2) is to Éclair (2.1) - only containing a few tweaks to address minor issues.

As Gingerbread hasn’t even been released yet (it’s slated for late 2010/early 2011), it’s a little difficult to say what kind of features Honeycomb is going to have. Gingerbread is expected to take Android up to version 3.0, and is targeted more towards tablet devices and high-end smartphones.

This could well mean that Honeycomb will be version 3.1.

Is anyone else hungry?
