Ambitious iPhone space-trader Galaxy on Fire 2 playable at GamesCom, out in October

Galaxy on Fire, from German developer Fishlabs, is one of the most revered mobile franchises, boasting as it does a Frontier-like universe full of non-player characters to trade with and kill.
The iPhone conversion of Galaxy on Fire was a disappointment, but Fishlabs is looking to recover its App Store reputation with its forthcoming conversion of Galaxy on Fire 2.
We first heard about the conversion way back in April, and since then we've learned through the Fishlabs development blog that the developer is spending a lot of time expanding and overhauling the game, as well as adding dialogue and storylines penned by professional writers.
Fishlabs will be showing off Galaxy on Fire 2 next week at Gamescom in Cologne, but before then it's sent us a dozen screenshots for the iPhone 4 Retina display version. They span micro-managerial space-station activity such as picking up jobs and kitting out your ship all the way up to macro-scale navigation with a zoomed-out galactic map.
And, of course, there's plenty of combat and space flight, set against the backdrop of drifting space stations, planets, cloud-like nebulae, brilliant stars, and even a bright spirally thing. It all looks stunning.
Galaxy on Fire 2 is due for iPhone and iPad this October.
