Smuggled white iPhone 4 reaches the wild. Probably a fake

The super sexy white iPhone 4 has been hit with severe manufacturing problems for well over a month now. It's suffered two delays and has no exact release date in sight.

The latest chapter in the white iPhone saga starts with a Chinese Apple employee supposedly sneaking one of the elusive gadgets out into the wild, by disguising it in a normal black iPhone 4 box. The thief snapped a ton of pictures and even offered it up for sale on Twitter.

But, despite an extensive gallery of plausible photos, 9to5Mac believes the whole thing is a scam, trying to drum up page clicks and a sale on Twitter for a normal black iPhone 4, decked out in replacement white parts easily found in China.

The biggest discrepancy in the image, the website says, is the missing silver lining of the camera’s LED flash. In fact, it looks more like an iPhone 4 with a DIY case.

We agree - the leak is probably a fake. Don’t be fooled, and definitely don’t buy the gadget off this dodgy Tweeter.
