Capcom releases first official Street Fighter IV 3DS screens

Capcom has launched an official website for the forthcoming 3DS version of Street Fighter IV.

It’s in Japanese, of course, and doesn’t really say anything particularly new or interesting. What is interesting, though, is that it features a batch of lovely screenshots, which you can view by clicking over there on the right.

It’s looking beautiful, quite frankly – and these are just in 2D. Imagine how it’ll look with proper three dimensional depth.

Producer Yoshinori Ono has admitted in a recent Famitsu interview that the game wouldn’t be possible at the level he wanted on DS or even PSP, which hints at the level of grunt behind the 3DS’s 3D screen.

Despite being a 3D edition, Ono rejects the idea of being able to move in and out of the screen. As any Street Fighter fan will agree, this is a blessed relief.

Rather, Capcom is aiming for a fully featured conversion of the home console version, with all modes and fighters making the transition. Having said that, Ono claims Capcom is considering utilising the slide pad and lower screen for special controls.
