If you updated your copy of Plants vs Zombies on iPhone recently, you’re in for a nasty surprise. PopCap has removed the Thriller-referencing Michael Jackson zombie.

The move was made as the late singer’s estate raised objections that the zombie “too closely resembled Michael Jackson.” PopCap then “made a business decision to retire the original 'dancing zombie.'”

The gaping hole in the game will be filled by a "different 'dancing zombie' character," says the developer.

Sensible PvZ players will rightly view the update like the King of Pop viewed BBC reporters, and tell it to beat it. PopCap plans to follow this update by phasing out the zombie on other platforms.
