Hero of Sparta II iPhone out today? Countdown clock has hours left

Gameloft has a mysterious countdown clock on its Hero of Sparta website, and with just four hours to go (at time of writing), it seems the hotly anticipated mythological beast slaying sequel could hit iPhone today.

We know that a few developers close to Apple, including Gameloft, have a little more information on the exact date of their releases than others who are left wondering when their game will return from the limbo of Apple’s approval queue. It’s entirely possible that Gameloft knows the exact release time of Hero of Sparta II, right down to the second.

We’ll know exactly what Gameloft has up its sleeve in precisely four hours, 15 minutes, and 16 seconds. 14 seconds. 11 seconds.

We’ve contacted the mobile giant for comment, but haven’t received word back.

We were impressed with Sparta’s first outing, and our iPhone guru Tracy Erickson was largely impressed with the sequel in a recent hands on preview. We’ll let you know what happens at 2pm GMT.
