Halo-inspired blaster N.O.V.A. is the latest game from mobile giant Gameloft to receive the flurry of new features that come packed with the iPhone 4 and firmware update iOS 4.

N.O.V.A. version 1.2.1 imbues the epic online multiplayer FPS with high-resolution graphics designed for the iPhone 4’s giant pixel density, bringing the game’s visuals up to scratch with the shooter’s HD iPad edition.

Another feature of the iPhone 4 that’s been put to use is the gyroscopic control that, alongside the accelerometer, gives tilt controlled games an extra level of responsiveness and a whole other axis of movement.

It should make you even more accurate in N.O.V.A., but you can test that for yourself in a new 3D shooting range that's packed into the updated app.

Finally, the game also supports iOS 4 mulitasking on compatible devices, meaning those rocking the latest iPhone and iPod touch gadgets can switch between gunning down alien nasties and Tweeting about their intergalactic adventures without halting the action.

The update is free to all who own N.O.V.A., which can be your's for £2.99 / $4.99 / €3.99 from the App Store.
