Chillingo releases Inkvaders HD on the App Store

If you're making a game called Inkvaders, it helps to have a sense of humour. Why else would you name the main character Generic Marine (G to his friends)?

Well, in the iPad version of Games Faction and Chillingo's Inkvaders, G returns for another helping of 2D side-scrolling shooter action.

Even if we found the gameplay to be somewhat limited, the cartoon visuals did looked great on iPhone, so you should get your money's worth in the HD version. As before, you play as G, travelling across 30 levels in a mission to save the human race and wipe out alien scum.

You have to collect Martian rocks and flying meteors as you go to earn the cash you need to purchase new weapons - there are 15 in total - ammo and item upgrades from vending machines.

The game includes leaderboards and achievements via Chillingo's Crystal social network.
