With the school summer holidays upon us, Nintendo's Price Crash campaign for the DSi seems to be paying off handsomely.

The company's dropped its retail price to £129.99, triggering a substantial rise in sales, especially as many stores have dropped their prices to £114.99.

"Each of the previous three weeks have seen DSi sales increase by over 40 per cent week-on-week," Nintendo's head of communications Rob Saunders told UK trade publication MCV.

Nintendo is supporting the campaign with TV advertising, which will switch to a family-based spot focusing on games.

The prices of the DS Lite (£89.99) and DSi XL (£149.99) remain unchanged, further focusing the DSi sales rise.
