Monkey Island 2 Special Edition: LeChuck's Revenge out now in New Zealand for iPhone and iPad

It's just under a year since the iPhone version of The Secret of Monkey Island arrived on the App Store, and now that game is joined by its bigger and better sequel, Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge.

LeChuck's Revenge is set several months after the original Monkey Island, and stars a Guybrush slightly wiser in the ways of the world, now abstracted from his great love Elaine Marley and in the midst of an attempt to grow facial hair. His second adventure takes him island-hopping around the Caribbean in search of the fabled Big Whoop.

Like The Secret of Monkey Island, LeChuck's Revenge is a Special Edition game, coming out on XBLA and PSN as well as the App Store – this time all at once. It features the original graphics and music as well as completely updated graphics, music, and voice acting, accessible by swiping two fingers across the screen.

LeChuck's Revenge also contains a hint system, object highlighting, and a new direct control system as an optional alternative to the classic point and click interface that gives the genre its name.

The iPad version also contains behind-the-scenes artwork from both the original and Special Edition of LeChuck's Revenge, as well as original developer commentary from Tim Schafer, Ron Gilbert, and Dave Grossman.

It's out in the UK at midnight, and it's likely to cost £5.99 / $9.99 on iPad and £4.99 / $7.99 on iPhone. Lite versions of both the iPhone and iPad game are available.
