With the iPhone’s iOS 4 software update, your snazzy Apple smartphone or MP3 player will finally get multitasking support, enabling you to jump between apps without waiting for games and programs to load from the beginning.

The only drawback is that multitasking must be individually coded into every app, by the original developer, for it to properly work.

While plenty productivity apps, like Dropbox, Evernote, Wordpress, and Pandora Radio, all support the new operating system functionality, games are taking a little longer to get on board.

We've noticed Popcap has updated top-class tower defense game Plants vs Zombie to work with multitasking but as far as we can tell that’s about it, for the time being.

To check if you have any updates, either click ‘Check for Updates’ in iTune’s App library, or peek in the ‘Updates’ tab in your iPhone or iPod’s App Store.
