E3 2010: Mario Kart accelerates onto 3DS

If you were already traumatised by the sight of a blue shell streaking towards your kart or disconcerted by a chomp chain slamming into the track ahead, then you might just want to steer clear of Nintendo's latest Mario Kart installment.

Tentatively entitled Mario Kart 3DS (well by us anyway), the impending 3DS release looks set to promise all the familiar high-octane action that we all know and love but this time rendered in gorgeous 3D bringing you so close to the action you can almost smell the burning rubber.

Okay, so we're eulogising a tad, because frankly all we've got right now are 7 screenshots saying Mario Kart Preview, but considering the early critical reception and our own hands-on with the 3DS I think we're entitled to get a little carried away.
