After a surprisingly quiet Worldwide Developers Conference, new games are popping up all over the place with E3 2010 mere days away.

Game makers just can't keep quiet about some of the exciting titles slated for the months ahead, three of which I guarantee you won't expect: Jurassic Park for iPad, Rage for both iPhone and iPad, and Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X. 2 for iPhone. There are so many more that I'm dying to mention, but we'd be here forever if I listed them all.

Don't worry, though - there's plenty of time to mull over all the new iPhone and iPad games next week, fresh from what is sure to be a stellar show in Los Angeles. See you on the other side.

Episodic Jurassic Park adventure series coming to iPad

Telltale Games has publicly announced plans to develop a new episodic adventure series on the Jurassic Park movies (which themselves are based on the novels by Michael Crichton), but what they haven't mentioned yet is their plan to bring the series to iPad. The lauded developer is sparing no expense on the project, which is expected some time in 2011.

In the announcement made by Telltale Games and licensing partner NBC Universal, no specific platforms were revealed: however, an inside source has confirmed that iPad is indeed among the devices on which the game will debut. An Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network, and PC release are assumed as well.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to glean any details about gameplay, though given the game's early state it's not surprising.

The novels were gripping and the first movie was entertaining. Let's just hope that it doesn't take 65 million years to make. Telltale Games promises Jurassic Park (and a series based on Back to the Future, by the way) will be ready "this winter."

Bethesda to announce iPhone and iPad versions of Rage

RageIt's no secret that renowned programmer John Carmack is in love with iPhone and iPad. His newest baby, post-apocalyptic shooter Rage, will be getting some of that Apple device love shortly following the release of the console and PC versions.

Bethesda, the company that now owns Carmack's id Software development studio, is keen to release iPhone and iPad instalments that act as offshoots from the main game.

Similar to how Doom Resurrection offered a different take on the series - on-rails shooting - without losing its spirit, expect a similar approach with the iOS versions of Rage. That's not to say the iPhone and iPad versions be on-rails shooters, just that they won't be stripped down from the core game.

With Carmack having concentrated much of his previous efforts on retooling old classics, it'll be refreshing to have something original from id. Of course, I wouldn't mind a status update on Quake Arena...

Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X. 2 set for take off on iPhone this autumn

Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X. 2So maybe this whole Gameloft-Ubisoft divorce was blown out of proportion. It's more like a separation. Actually, it's not even that bad. Think of it like Ubisoft got upset and told Gameloft to sleep on the couch for a couple nights.

Things have apparently been worked out because Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X. 2 is being prepared by Gameloft for release on iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad alongside Ubisoft's console version. That's great news considering how much fun the first game was last December.

New missions are to be expected based on a brand-new scenario in which a US-occupied base in the Middle East is bombed by an unknown enemy. In the effort to track down the enemy, you'll complete some interesting objectives including midair refuelling, spying with unmanned aerial drones, and classic dogfighting.

Speaking of dogfighting, online multiplayer could be in the mix this time around. I couldn't get confirmation, but keep your fingers crossed.
