PadRacer is a rather unique iPad game. On the tablet's screen, there's a top-down race track that looks like Micro Machines. But it's all controlled through iPhones and iPod touchs hooked up via Bluetooth or wi-fi.

Like Scrabble's tile-rack application and the SNES emulator that turns your iPhone into a controller, it's just one clever way developers are using multiple Apple devices for interesting new gaming ideas.

And now, PadRacer takes that rather expensive idea to a whole new level, allowing you to hook up multiple iPads for even bigger tracks. The video below shows two iPads and one iPod touch playing a big racing track: that's almost £1000 worth of Apple gear.

There's also that scary dark void hidden between the two iPad borders, a thick four centimetre vacuum of complete nothingness. Crash in there, and you might never drive away.

PadRacer is a universal application for iPhone and iPad, that'll cost you £2.99 / $4.99 / €3.99. If your buddy's got an iPhone, though, and wants to play, he can download a free car controller app right here.
