During Steve Jobs’s keynote presentation tonight over at WWDC 2010, Activision jumped up on stage to reveal that Guitar Hero has just launched on Apple’s handhelds.

Arguably the big daddy of all music-rhythm games, Guitar Hero on iPhone includes a 'new strumming mechanic' that takes advantage of the multi-touch display.

In a similar vein to its chief rivals Rock Band and Tap Tap Revenge 3, Guitar Hero also, of course, features an incredible amount of tip-tapping along in time to cascading notes.

Air guitar wannabes can now strum along to hits from Queen, Weezer, and The Rolling Stones, among others.

Guitar Hero should be available on the App Store right now for $2.99 / £1.79 / €2.39.
