If there are a few sights and sounds synonymous with arcades of yore, it'll be change machines, the ones filled with pennies and ones where you smash the living daylights out of some plastic animal with a rubber mallet.

Moles are good, rats are better, but crocodiles are the very best, as seen in Namco's 1988 Wacky Gator. Now, Namco has brought back alligator homicide on the iPhone, with Gator Panic.

It's a simple game that tasks you with beating up as many reptiles as you can before the time runs out. It has five different types of alligators, three different hammers, and you can grab the crocs and chuck them out of their caves.

It's all played in three different modes (Classic, Survival, and Challenge), and you can use Facebook Connect to post your best scores online.

Gator Panic is available now for £1.19 / $1.99.
