Ultra realistic, motion-captured fighters not doing it for you? How about this blast from the past with an iPhone revamp of 1984's Karate Champ.

Something of a historical artifact, seeing as it was one of the first fighting games of its type, Karate Champ has influenced a fair few brawlers. We'll let the App Store's little white lie that Champ was the 'first ever fighting game' slide, for now.

The game comes from Revolutionary Concepts, who previously raided the gaming archives with an iPhone port of laser-disc classic Cobra Command.

Karate Champ's iPhone port works in both vertical and horizontal configurations, can be played head to head over wi-fi and Bluetooth, and you can even rip the arcade cabinet open and fiddle with the dip switches to alter the game's settings.

Karate Champ is available now on iPhone and iPod touch for £1.19 / $1.99 / €1.59.
