Will the Nintendo 3DS be widescreen?

FCC filing shows wide ratio screen

Will the Nintendo 3DS be widescreen?

A hardware filing by Mitsumi, the electronics manufacturer for the upcoming Nintendo 3DS console, appears to show a widescreen display.

The FCC filing, branded as a 'Nintendo DS CTR TARGET BOARD', features a photo of the insides of what is thought to be a 3DS prototype.

The two screens are on display as you'd expect. Yet while the bottom screen is the typical 4:3 ratio, the top screen appears to be in widescreen format.

However, we'd be very surprised if the final product features two screens of different ratios.

Hence it's pretty safe to assume that either the top screen is simply a place-holder for now, or the bottom screen is going to also receive the widescreen treatment.

The rest of the test kit doesn't give much else away in terms of features. Check out the FCC photo listing below.
