First details of debut Prince of Persia iPhone game revealed

In the context of Jerry Bruckheimer's live-action version of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time - out May 28 - it's perhaps a little strange that Gameloft decided to bring its sequel Warrior Within to iPhone and iPod touch.

Still, with PSP and console versions of the game to work from, it's presumably an easier task than starting from scratch.

Smooth operator

Of course, some things need changing with the first screenshots of the game showing the touch control scheme, which includes a virtual stick on the left and three action buttons on the right - fight, block and jump by the look of them.

Other iconography shows the Sands of Time that enable you to rewind, slow-out and speed time, while the action is typically athletic and boss-battle based.

Graphically, the game looks very similar to the PSP version and appears to follow the same plot, including the death of Shahdee, one of the Empress of Time's minions.

Prince of Persia: Warrior Within is expected to be released very soon.
